Photo spots on the city walls of Dubrovnik
If you are looking for the best Dubrovnik photo spots, you cannot avoid the city wall. Here it is of course crucial to have the best places for yourself if possible. Read my 5 Tips how to enjoy the City Walls of Dubrovnik alone.
On the 2 km long city wall you will find many great opportunities to take unforgettable pictures of the old town, the wall, the Lovrijenac fortress and the turquoise-blue Adriatic – and of course you in the middle. Here you get a lot of material for your photo album and your social media accounts such as Instagram and Co.
You walk across the city wall in a kind of one-way street counter-clockwise. I have divided the best photo spots into two sections:
From the staircase at Pile Gate to Ploce Gate (“sea side”)
From the staircase at Ploce Tor to the Pile Tor (“land side”)
On the land side you can also speak of “above” because the defenses of the city walls on the land side are higher than the old town and you have great views “from above”, especially from the towers.
Everything you should know about visiting the city walls can be found in the JOURNICATION article Dubrovnik City Walls – everything you need to know
Pictures ideas in the fortress Lovrijenac
Another great place for unforgettable Dubrovnik pictures is the Lovrijenac fortress. From here you have a magnificent view of the old town and city wall over the shimmering blue water of the Adriatic. Entrance to the fortress is already included in the city wall ticket.
Insider tip: Don’t miss the grove under the Lovrijenac fortress, from which you have a special view of the city walls and the turquoise blue sea through the trees.
Photo spots in the old town of Dubrovnik
The “Stari Grad“, the old town of Dubrovnik, looks like a gigantic open-air museum in many places and has therefore been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. Enter Dubrovnik’s famous old town through the Pile Gate. The main street Stradun takes you to the Sponza Palace, St. Blaise’s Church, the Roland Column and the old harbor with arsenal.
In the old town you will also find the cathedral, the market and many other places and courtyards for great photos.
Tip: Be sure to take a look at the small streets that branch off from Stradun. Here you get an insight into life a little further away from the tourist hustle and bustle.
Pictures ideas from the mountain Srđ
You can get to the imperial fortress above the city by mountain railway or on cobblers (i.e. on foot). From here you have a magnificent panoramic view of the old town of Dubrovnik, the city walls and their defenses, the nearby beaches and the island of Lokrum.
Mount Srđ is a great place to admire the sunset over Dubrovnik and the Adriatic.
Now you know the best Instagram photo spots in Dubrovnik and hopefully you were able to collect lots of pictures. This article should serve as your first source of inspiration. Of course there are other spots. What is your insider tip?
